about

Ah shit, here we are. This is the point where the album started to get a little louder, a little more grunt to it. And yes, there is a story behind this poem.

Now I was involved for a number of years with a poetry festival in Melbourne, Overload some of you will recall it was called. We never had a lot of money and so at some point it was suggested that we ran an auction to raise money. A number of us offered ourselves as items in the auction, to perform various services for the highest bidders. I don't know how much Jen Jewel Brown bid, no one ever told me and I was at the bar at the time, but she was certainly the highest bid. Or the only bid as the case may be. The auction was at Dante's in Fitzroy I remember.

The service I had offered was seven poems written on the subject of your choice. 'You know what I want' she smirked at me. I didn't actually, but she soon put me right. Sex poems, that's what she wanted. Well I didn't write sex poems, not really at all ever, no idea where even to begin. But she was determined and this, horrifyingly enough, was the first poem that came out. I was not in a good way at that point, clearly. Funny enough I still perform this poem regularly, as I do a number of the other poems from that set.

It's worth it just for the crowd reaction when you drop that first line. Priceless!

Super happy with the music on this one, but again, no record of who produced it. Matt, is this one of yours? Actually I think this might be mine.
